Statement of Purpose Summary


Feathers aims to promote the well being of individuals, help make life as fulfilling as possible and to help people towards a full and enjoyable life.

 

A personal assessment will help us to assess placement availability, and to deliver the best care required to support your independence and dignity.

 

Feathers will improve social interaction, socialisation, psychological and physical well-being.

What feathers Offers


We aim to promote well being, independence and help people to lead a fulfilling life. Our services are designed to promote independence and improve quality of life providing activities, help and support. inclusive of those who wish to become more socially active or have dementia related conditions.

 

We offer:

  • A variety of stimulating social and leisure activities,
  • A cooked lunch which will be provided, any special dietary requirements will be taken into account,
  • Transport can be arranged at a small additional cost, if required,
  • Refreshments are provided throughout the day,
  • Activities are carried out throughout the day that encourage group or individual interaction,
  • Accessibility to outings in the community such as the theatre and local garden centres,
  • Access to various beauty and holistic therapists,

Activities

Activities will reflect good care practices and are designed to be responsive to Service Users' wishes and needs.

Our aim is to enhance the quality of individual daily lives
Activities are varied to accommodate different 
interests and hobbies.

Examples of activities include:
  • Handicraft / hobbies
  • Flower arranging
  • fund raising events
  • Reminiscence
  • Exercise classes
  • Falls prevention
  • Service users' meetings
  • Carers' group meetings
  • Ageing well

         We are always willing to accommodate anyone who wishes                     to try an activity which is not currently offered, where practicable.


We also offer other services at an additional cost, including:
  • Hairdressing
  • Chiropody
  • Holistic therapies
  • Beauty

Example of a Typical Day


Welcome, morning tea/coffee - toast/biscuits  

News desk - local and national newspapers to inform guests of local and national issues and encourage involvement by sharing opinions and views

Seated exercise / music and movement or relaxation the choice of group or individual activity

Lunchtime

Choice of group or individual activity

Board games / sing a long / poetry /reminiscence

Afternoon refreshments, social interactions. 

Activity and then home

Feathers is currently available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday's.

        As part of our service to you, we endeavour to:

questionnaires and meetings.

Delivery of Care

Referrals to feathers can be made by simply calling the office on 0121 308 1700. A member of the team will liaise with you and agree a home visit whereby an assessment will be completed. The service uses requirements will be discussed and a plan of care will be devised which will include details of days of attendance. We also carry out risk assessments to ensure the health and safety of service users and staff. 
The plan of care will be reviewed and revised on a regular basis.
Inform and consult with you about any proposed changes within the centre.

   
Cost
Costs are currently based on £7.50 per hour with a minimum of 2 hours [10.00-14.00]. 

We will be more than pleased to give you a cost based on your individual needs.

How will I get there?
You are advised to arrange your own transport, or phone the Ring and Ride on 0121 327 8128. 
Alternatively please call the centre and we endeavour to arrange transport, 
please be advised there will be a small charge for this service.
